An online web-based tool to assist Data Analysts in efficiently conducting analysis and presenting their findings to their superiors. The tool leveraged proprietary technology to facilitate the analysis of both known and unknown factors, enabling informed decision-making. It provided a streamlined, step-by-step process for Data Analysts to input and export their results with ease.
My Role
As a UX Designer and Researcher, my role involved working closely with the product owners to understand the intended functionality of the tool. I conducted user interviews to gather insights on their current methodology and used this information to create wireframes for the development team. My responsibilities included designing and iterating on the user experience to ensure an intuitive and seamless process for our users.
Project Summary
Our client needed an online tool that leveraged proprietary methodology to facilitate the analysis of both known and unknown factors across various industries such as manufacturing and transportation.
To address these issues, our goal was to design a browser-based tool that was intuitive and easy to use for analysts with varying levels of experience. The tool would enable users to input data, add factors, and create customizable presentations on-the-fly.
Following consultation with the project owners and user interviews, I designed a browser-based tool that guides users through the entire process from start to finish.
The Challenge
Our client encountered a number of challenges in their current process for conducting analysis using proprietary methodology. One significant issue was the lack of a unified platform for executing projects, which necessitated the use of multiple separate applications. This fragmented approach made it difficult for users to effectively utilize the tool, particularly those who were new to the methodology.
Furthermore, the project was running behind schedule and had not undergone a task analysis, which added to the difficulties faced by our client. These challenges posed significant obstacles to the success of the project and required careful consideration and a strategic approach to overcome.

Solution

The tool needed to provide clear guidance on next steps for the user and facilitate the creation of visually compelling presentations for decision makers in meetings.
To inform the design of the tool, I conducted a thorough analysis of the current process and gathered feedback from both new and seasoned users. This included conducting a macro and micro task analysis to identify opportunities for streamlining the process and making it more user-friendly.
Through close collaboration with the product owners and development team, I was able to develop a one-stop-shop online platform that integrated all necessary tasks and allowed for the creation of easily understandable visual presentations for decision makers. Our goal was to provide a solution that enables users to efficiently conduct analysis and present their findings in a clear and concise manner.
Results
As a result of our efforts, we were able to develop an online web-based tool that users found easy to understand and navigate. The step-by-step process ensured that users could confidently address all necessary issues before exporting visuals. In meetings, the tool's flexibility allowed users to quickly make changes to visuals on-the-fly in response to questions, comments, and feedback from superiors. Overall, the tool facilitated a more efficient and effective analysis process for our users.
The key outcomes of this project was the development of a comprehensive tool that met our client's needs and eliminated the need for multiple applications. Prior to our intervention, our client did not have a single tool that could effectively address their analysis needs. Through careful analysis and design, I was able to deliver a solution that enabled them to complete their projects from start to finish using a single platform.
